TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) Disorders

TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders are a family of problems related to your complex jaw joint. This joint is located one finger's width in front of your ear.   The symptoms include: clicking sounds; pain; grating noises; muscle spasms.  There may be many reasons for the development for these disorders, among them are grinding your teeth, injuring your jaw, over exertion of you jaw muscles and stress.  There are no complete cures, but with proper dental care you can reduce the pain and prevent further damage in many cases. In my experience non-surgical treatment has been the appropriate course of action for the majority of cases I have treated.
